 Rosie the Riveter

More than bugles
The musical instruments and other equipment assets of the Madison Scouts organization must be continuously maintained. The requirements for upkeep may be as simple as cleaning instruments and other equipment, or may be more complex, such as reconditioning instruments, recalibrating kitchen burners, laundering uniforms, upgrading computer software or hardware, or cleaning the administrative office.

Corps Vehicles
The Madison Scouts need volunteers to help keep corps vehicles in safe operating condition. Vehicles must also be conditioned to represent the corps while on the road. This means a lot of soap and water. If we are touring in your area and you have some time, we can always use a hand with maintenance and cleaning.

Skills
If you are a carpenter, a mechanic, if you have refrigeration or oven repair experience, or if you are mechanically inclined, we could use your help with our vehicles. However, no experience is necessary! Many jobs do not require special skills.

Year-Round Maintenance Schedule

  • August post-tour: Inventory brass and percussion equipment. Remove perishables from food truck and clean out freezer.

  • September-October: Launder uniforms; clean and recondition musical instruments; sanitize food truck. Send vehicles for repairs.

  • November-December: Issue equipment to members.

  • January-June: Retrofit vehicles.

  • July-August: On tour, maintain proper function of all equipment.
